Lifestyle and Attractions
The small town charm of Pineville is complemented by the desirable amenities of a larger city. A significant number of people in Pineville work in professional fields such as finance and office administration. Pineville hosts a number of community events and festivals each year, including Crops and Shops Festival, Fall Festival, Rockin’ & Reelin’, and a weekly farmers’ market during the summer.

Pineville’s proximity to the light rail makes for quick and inexpensive commuting in and out of Uptown Charlotte, for work, sporting events, or a night out on the town.

History
Pineville was once a tiny depot town called “Morrow’s Turnout,” serving as a place where livestock could be turned out to the rolling pastures surrounding the station. By the time Pineville was incorporated in 1873, the town had a bustling downtown with shops, a busy cotton mill, and a lively mule market. The town was named Pineville because it was a village known for pine trees. Pineville is the birthplace of James K. Polk, the 11th president of the United States. Today, visitors can see the recreated log cabin and farm where he grew up in on Lancaster Highway.
