In 1885, Unionville Institution was founded, and in 1910, the building was sold to the County Board of Education and was renamed to Unionville High School. It eventually became an elementary school in 1960. One of the town’s longest-lasting traditions is the Unionville Barbeque, which has been held annually at Unionville Elementary School since 1949. This event is quite popular and even serves as a reunion for former residents to return to their beloved hometown.
