300 Caroldean Drive Travelers Rest, SC 29690
Welcome home to your own private retreat! Nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains you will find this beautiful craftsman-built home. The owner, being a general contractor, designed and built this home himself in 1992 and has maintained it in excellent condition over the years. As you approach the front entrance, you get the feel of a private mountain retreat as the wrap around porch welcomes you to sit down and unwind. The porch truly "wraps" around the house, transitioning to a fully enclosed sun room, then to a screened-in porch and finally opening up onto an elevated balcony/deck with covered area to grill out. Once inside the front door, you are drawn to the large den with 18-foot vaulted ceiling. A staircase to the left will lead you up to a large bonus room, which could be a home-office, work-out area or game room. The kitchen welcomes you to come sit at the bar for a quick bite or you may want to dine in the octagon-shaped formal dining room (also with 18-foot ceiling). This home boasts an oversized owner's suite with ensuite bathroom, complete with tub and separate shower, as well as a walk-in closet, finished with a California Closet system. Two more large bedrooms can also be found on the main level. Venture down to the basement and you will find a 20x40 shop area, 2-car garage, an extra storage room that measures 9x16 and another octagon-shaped (climate controlled) room for additional storage. Outside you will discover the workshop (2-story), which has room for lawn equipment or maybe that "project" you've been wanting to start. The shop is equipped with electric as well. The property, which is over 5 acres, backs up to the Bunched Arrowhead Heritage Preserve. This 180-acre Nature Preserve provides hiking trails and other activities and is protected land, which will not be developed! Enjoy watching the deer wander into the back yard in the evenings while you sit on the upper deck area. This home is truly a hidden paradise just waiting for you to experience. It will not last long so come see it today!

This small town located in the northern part of Greenville County began as a place where settlers arriving in Conestoga wagons would stop on their way through the mountains. Drovers from Kentucky and Tennessee on their way to South Carolina markets passed through Travelers Rest in the 1800s, along with their herds of cattle, sheep and hogs. As a result, taverns and inns sprang up in this area to accommodate these travelers. Lodging business picked up even more throughout the 1800s, as travelers continued to arrive by train after the introduction of the railroad.
Travelers Rest was incorporated twice, first in 1891 until the incorporation period expired 30 years later, and again in 1891, after residents petitioned to incorporate the city under its existing name.
